In order to make this happen, they sent the commander of the CIS forces, General Grievous, on a mission to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine, who was of course also Sidious. Grievous took a large portion of the Seperatist fleet to Coruscant, and began the attack. Landing Ships descended on the planet, occupying the Clonetroopers and Jedi Generals while Grievous himself broke into the Capital building with his IG bodyguards. He killed several Jedi and Senate guards before finally getting ahold of Palpatine, and took off for his flagship, the Invisible Hand.
Meanwhile, the Republic Star Destroyers fought to defend the planet from the invaders. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker finally returned to Coruscant, with reports varying on where they'd been previously. Apparently they never got their stories straight on their whereabouts.Anakin and Obi-Wan fought their way through the fleet until finally crashing into the Invisible Hand's landing bay. They proceeded to fight their way to the observation tower, where they found Palpatine held hostage and Count Dooku, aka Darth Tyrannus, waiting as well. Obi-Wan was dispatched quickly during the duel, with Dooku taunting Skywalker until he was finally disarmed, dishanded, and about to be disheaded. Palpatine urged Anakin to finish the Sith Lord off, surprising Dooku with his treachery. Anakin gave in, showing his easily manipulated emotions.Obi-Wan awoke to find he was being carried by his former Padawan, and they proceeded to do some Three Stooges style retardedness before being captured and taken to General Grievous. The Jedi had some really lame banter with the General before breaking free and inspiring the incredibly formidable General run with his tail between his legs.
Despite their Commander In Chief and two really important Generals being aboard, the Clonetroopers continued firing on the Invisible Hand, knocking out its engines. The ship then broke into the atmosphere, with Anakin pushing it into a controlled crash. The Chancellor was safe, and the CIS Forces retreated.
